Optimum Nutrition Amino Energy review

My second favourite sports nutrition supplement, following protein, is amino acids. It’s essential to supplement with branched-chain amino acids since your body cannot produce them, but additional amino acids are also beneficial. For a unique combination of amino acids and caffeine, look no further than Optimum Nutrition Amino Energy. Here is my Optimum Nutrition Amino Energy review.

Each 9g serving of Amino Energy provides 5g of amino acids and 110mg of caffeine with only 10 calories. The Amino Blend includes the branched-chain amino acids, as well as other major players such as taurine, L-glutamine, L-arginine, beta-alanine, citrulline, tyrosine, among others. The Energy Blend combines caffeine from green tea with green tea extract and green coffee extract.

The amino acids in Amino Energy are all micronized making the product very fine. The result is super easy mixing with no residue.

Sooo good. Seriously. ON Amino Energy is available in a lot of flavours – orange cooler, fruit fusion, watermelon, concorde grape, and blue raspberry – and you can’t go wrong with any of them. Grape is definitely my favourite flavour, followed closely by orange.

Amino Energy works well for me in a variety of different situations. If I’m feeling a little sluggish during the day I add 1-2 scoops to 500mL of water for a great pick-me-up. Brain fog lifts, I feel more alert and I can really focus on the rest of my day. I also use Amino Energy as a pre-workout. Taking 2-4 scoops about 20 minutes before I start training gets me ready to go with 10g of aminos and 220mg of caffeine. The caffeine gives me a boost of energy and focus, without jitters, while the extra amino acids support muscle growth and recovery. Since Amino Energy contains arginine and beta alanine, it is also a very effective nitric oxide booster. I definitely had bigger, stronger pumps at the gym when I used it as a pre-workout. As with other stimulants, I can’t take too much late in the day or else my sleep is disrupted, so for evening workouts I cut my pre-workout dose to 1-2 scoops. Another great thing about Amino Energy is zero crash!

I highly recommend Optimum Nutrition Amino Energy. It provides a good amino acid profile with a perfect kick of caffeine for that extra boost of energy. Amino Energy is a very versatile supplement that you can take at various times and at varying doses. Use it during the day as an energy drink, before training as a pre-workout with enhanced nitric oxide production, and even during or after training for increased muscle building support and better recovery. Amazing flavours, great results, and no crash! Just when you think it can’t get any better…add to that good value!
