Cellucor C4 Extreme is a solid pre-workout supplement formulated to enhance your mind, muscles and performance. By combining Creatine MagnaPower with beta alanine, arginine and caffeine, C4 will deliver explosive muscle pumps and intense energy. Here is my Cellucor C4 Extreme review.
Beta Alanine (1500mg) – helps to recycle energy, increase pumps and remove lactic acid build-up
Creatine MagnaPower (1000mg) – magnesium creatine chelate – highly absorbable and bioavailable, increases muscle energy, provides a necessary electrolyte and nutrient in magnesium, facilitates oxygen delivery to muscles, increases muscle performance
L-Arginine alpha-ketoglutarate (1000mg) – vasodialator that increases muscle pump, nutrient delivery and blood flow
Vitamin C (250mg) – ascorbic acid – helps support nitric oxide output, lower post-workout muscle soreness and enhance recovery
Caffeine (150mg) – stimulant that enhances performance, delays fatigue, improves power, elevates mood, enhances alertness, and increases motor control
L-Tyrosine (81.17mg) – N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine – elevates mood, and helps combat fatigue and stress
Niacinamide (33mg) – a form of vitamin B3 (niacin) that does not cause flushing, helps improve circulation and provide energy
Bitter Orange (25mg) – 30% synephrine – helps with weight loss and suppresses appetite
Folic Acid (250mcg) – folate – a form of vitamin B9 required for healthy red blood cells and cell growth
Pyridoxal-5-phosphate (35mcg) – the active form of vitamin B6 required for muscle growth and repair, energy metabolism, and helps balance electrolytes
Vitamin B12 (35mcg) – methylcobalamin – helps metabolize carbs, fats and proteins, and helps produce red blood cells
Mixability – 9/10
C4 Extreme mixes up like most pre-workouts. After a really good shake there are a few bits left at the bottom but no big deal.
Recommended Dose: Take 1 scoop one to two times daily. Mix each scoop with 4-6 oz of water.
Taste – 9/10
Cellucor C4 Extreme is available in a lot of flavours: icy blue razz, fruit punch, orange, watermelon, and pink grapefruit. I tried the pink grapefruit for something completely different (everyone does fruit punch and blue razz these days), and it was pretty good. Not too sweet and a nice change.
Effectiveness – 9/10
This is a good pre-workout. I definitely had enhanced pumps and more strength during training, which are great for muscle building. The caffeine is a little low but with all the B vitamins and tyrosine included my energy was always pumping and I had great focus. Energy was always clean, never jittery, and definitely never a crash. The only thing I wasn’t too crazy about was the level of beta alanine. The tingling passes but some days it was just a bit annoying. That said, I know it helped increase my endurance and delay fatigue.
Cellucor C4 Extreme is a pre-workout that you should definitely try if you haven’t already. It delivers solid pumps and good energy for an overall enhanced performance at the gym. The stimulants aren’t too high, but that gives you options – take 2 scoops if you want something a bit heavier, or take 1 or less if you want to take C4 prior to a late afternoon or early evening workout. I really like the detailed supplement facts list so that you know exactly how much of each ingredient you are taking. None of those proprietary blends, matrixes or complexes in C4.
